763rd Tank Battalion Memoir, ""Okinawa Odyssey" by Bob Green (2004, Hardcover)
    Jan 17, 2023
Truly an Odyssey by an American Patriot
Bob Green was a typical America Patriot from Texas who put aside his existence on his Texas ranch to defend his nation against Fascism and Marxism... Bob was one of 16 million men and women who answered the call to our nation before and after the Attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. What is unique about this memoir is the fact that Bob served in a US Army armored unit win the Pacific Theatre which is unusual in terms of most other information written on armor units during WWII. The Japanese "tactics" on how they confront and destroyed our Tank Corps units during the Island Hopping Campaigns and the systematic destruction of the Japanese forces is a sickening waste of men and materiel based on the Bushido Code used by the Japanese Military Officers Corps nan attempt to deny the American and Allied Forces their inevitable victories. The amount of training leading up to US Army Officers being assigned to units to fight overseas is also described in detail in the memoir. Very interesting material. I have been a military historian for over fifty years and learned new facts by reading this offering. Bob Green was typical of "American Greatest Generation" and his writings clearly shows just how their generation of American Patriots dropped everything to rally around the American flag and took the chance of giving away all their tomorrows to serve for the concept of Freedom and Liberty. A pair of concepts that have been almost given away by the current American Citizenry without nary a shot being fired. That is a discussion for another time. Respectfully, Jeff Sharp

    Classic Songs of WWII
The product itself was packaged well and is a interesting cross-section of the "music the US won the war by"… The only issue I had was a couple of the tracks were in stereo, which doesn't comport with the WWII feel of the remainder of the CD… One cut even was recorded off the original 78 disk, which allows for the pops and ticks associated with the original recordings… I enjoyed this offering, but it could have been better produced that it was.
Every Day: The Best of the Verve Years by JOE WILLIAMS (Vocals) 2 CDs
    Dec 19, 2017
    Joe "The Screamer" Williams
Joe Williams was with Count Basie during the 1958 band (which is considered the best group of sixteen men Basie ever had at one time) Wiliams was "a screamer type" of singer, but he could almost whisper out a ballad that could make the hair on your arms stand up on end... Joe was a consummate professional (watch some Basie/Williams YouTube offerings) and you'll see professional big band troubadors doing their finest work... they are working their craft in effortless fashion. This gathering of sidemen and Joe Williams does a terrific job of capturing the essence of what it is to be from the "Golden Age" of stereo recordings of the big band musicians who were all from the 30's through WWII and the Korean Conflict... As always - the sound mixers headed into the "Rock & Roll" era do NOT do a good job of understanding that rhythm sections should be "felt" and not "heard" according to one of Basie's best percussionists - Jo Jones... Overall, when you consider the musicians used on this recording in support of Joe WiIliams... this is better than most recordings, if not as well produced as some of the best available. I don't think it's a stretch to say that the title is truth in advertising by Verve Records... Respectfully, Jeff Sharp
