Poor quality control
1 of 1 found this helpful Wilson used to make good stuff, but I noticed these mounts came from China. I needed a mount on my Jeep that was stronger than the chrome plated brass mount I had that was prone to breaking. I installed the Wilson mount and could not get my SWR anywhere near where it need to be. I started checking everything with an ohm meter. Turns out there was no continuity between the radio and the antenna. I found that the center hole in the mount was drilled to deep so the center pin of the antenna cable was not making contact. I found some fiber plumbing washers just the right size to shim the center bolt out. It was better but still not good SWR readings. I then took a small piece of tin foil and folded it small enough to fit in the center hole, the center pin of the cable then pushed it further in the hole and made good contact. I set my SWR to good levels. The special center bolt needs to be inspected better.
I wonder how many people have burned up CBs because they did not check this and SWR.
