Simply awesome.
1 of 1 found this helpful Awesome price. Awesome quality. I retired my 40 year old one, which was on its last legs, after receiving these two. I'll be dead and gone before ever needing the second one of these two. I hardly ever use my DS 017LS, but it's whipped in comparison to these two. The photo also shows my old DS 017LS, and it's of similar design to these two new ones but decidedly different from my old DS017, made in the USA. One of the two "new to me" used ones is at the top. Oh, BTW, my old DS017 is a franken solder sucker. It took two to make one good one years ago. Anyway, this is one heck of a deal. I'm happy.

Inferior Chinese clone of another Chinese power supply
Silicone all over and around the bezel. This is used to hold the red plastic cover over the LED displays. Blurry display caused by tape being left over the LED displays. Bowed panel at the top because of a forced poor fit for the display board. Noisy in operation (switching power supply whine) in addition to a noisy fan. The alligator clips supplied were nasty; the banana ends needed to be soldered to make a stable connection. Who thinks loose rotating connections on a power supply are a good idea? The handle on top was crooked and loose. The voltage display is fixed at displaying only 10ths of a volt. Anything less than 10 volts only shows X.X volts, i. e. 5 volts displays as 5.0, not 5.00. I recommend spending an extra $14 and getting the original. I now have two of the "originals", after making the mistake of buying one of these for my necessary second one. These look very similar, but that's about it. The difference in quality is quite discernable when you have them side by side and in use. These are knockoffs of a much better power supply that doesn't sell for much more. This is my second review of these power supplies. My first review never appeared. Maybe this one won't either. What is so wrong about an honest detailed review? BTW, I gave away this power supply, it wasn't worth my time to return it.

Three out of six defective
This review is for my most recent purchase for six of these chargers. Of these six, three were defective. Two worked intermittently and one was dead. I disassembled all three and all three had defects in the swivel power plug contact area on the PCB. I was able to repair two of the chargers by bending both power contacts further away from the PCB to allow firm contact with the swivel power plug. The dead one had a bad solder joint on one of the power contacts and the contact was loose and unable to make contact with the swivel plug. I resoldered the contact and bent both contacts further away from the PCB to affect repair. All three repaired chargers now work fine. The overall quality and design of these popular chargers otherwise is acceptable. What more can you expect for 99 cents? I had previously purchased ten of these chargers, and all ten in that purchase worked fine.
