    1/32 Trumpter F-105d Sprue K: Pylons & Drop Tanks
Cost saving way to acquire extra/replacement parts without buying the entire kit! In my situation, I needed two centerline fuel tanks to build a diorama, the kit only provided one (naturally). By buying sprue K, I obtained my second tank at a fraction of the price of the cost of a complete kit. Really nice that the seller parted out a kit making it possible for me (and I assume others) to obtain the extra parts I needed at a fraction of the price of a complete kit....Thanks!!

    Side-By-Side by Vickie Lewis (1999)
The title of this book says it all, women have been fighting along side men throughout recorded history. They have served in every imaginable capacity from simple soldier to the commander of armies, and have done so with success and honor. Side-By-Side starts with the American Revolution and skillfully progresses through the end of Desert Storm. The book uses drawings, paintings, black and white and color photographs with adjacent, meaningful narratives and often quotes. I bought my first copy of Side-By-Side when it was published and didn't put it down until I had viewed all the illustrations and read every word! I was amazed to learn that women in combat is nothing new and I met some remarkable soldiers, patriots, and hereos, but most of all human beings who willingly placed themselves in harms way because of their beliefs...gender was not an issue! This is a wonderful coffee table book for adults and most middle school and older children. It fills a gap in understanding the role women have played in United States history. I have bought many copies of Side-By-Side over the years, using them as gifts and as donations to libraries and schools. This book is definitely in the top ten of my rather extensive library. I recommend Side-By-Side to anyone that loves history and balanced journalism.

She Went to War by Peter Copeland, Rhonda Cornum
I have purchased many copies of this book since it's release in 1992 and use it as a gift. The book is a true story of a US Army Major/Flight Surgeon, exceptional human being, and woman with the life skills necessary to survive as a POW (prisoner of war) with very serious, disabling, injuries. Both of her arms were broken, one knee was shattered and she had a bullet in one shoulder making it impossible for her to do the simplest of things like eating, drinking, or calls of nature. Her strengths were her clear thought processes, training, Love of her daughter and husband, self pride, and sheer stubborn drive to survive with her diginity intact. Dr Cornum used clear options and positive logic to deal with everything ranging from being sexually molested, extreme pain, and having to pee. For example when she had to pee she thought, well this means my kidneys are working, and then went through her options (1) pee in her uniform, or (2) ask one of her guards (all males) to help her. She went with option two, received the assistance she needed, and retained her diginity. While her experience as a POW will be best understood by people with medical and military knowledge, the book is written in a first person style...it's as if Dr Cornum were telling her story directly to the reader and providing explainations of things like command responsibility, Army rules, and medical terms to the uninitiated in layman's language. Dr Cornum testified before the US Congress on her experience as a POW...her testimony directly opened many military combat jobs (like fighter pilot) to women. Dr Cornum recently retired from the US Army as a Brigadier General. During her Army career she earned many decorations, including the Legion of Merit (2 oak leaf clusters), Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (4 oak leaf clusters), Purple Heart, Air Medal, POW Medal and others. As she retired, her title was: Brigadier General Rhonda Cornum, Ph.D., M.D., Director, Comprehensive Soldier Fitness HQDA, DCS G-3/5/7. I highly recommend this book to anyone intrested in exceptional people. It is almost always available on ebay in hard and soft cover versions...sometimes a signed copy becomes available, but then you will be bidding against me!
