Interesting but too detailed
I certainly respect C. S. Lewis and wanted to learn more about his early life. That has significant value, however, I got weighed down by description of his high school and college years, some of it because the British system is foreign to me.

Approachable History of America
Ambrose’s style is very readable with a concentration on the people who made history, including the “little guy.” It inspired me to read more of his books.
