Samsung HMX-W300
1 of 1 found this helpful Reasonably priced camera/video recorder for the functionality and image quality. Super easy to use and the control are very practically arrange, not a lot of extra buttons or functions makes operating much simpler. Pretty straight forward to use and download images to a pc. It is compact and seems very sturdy. It was difficult to use the camera in direct sunlight, hard to see what was on the screen due to glare - could be the case with other similar cameras. This was a problem taking pics in the pool because you are in the sun, usually limited shade. Important to note the door that housed the USB drive opened in the water when I was getting the camera out of my pocket - the camera internals got fried. If you buy this camera, find a case that secures the latches on the doors while in use. Most water cameras I have seen require the user to do 2 actions at once to open doors (like push button and slide latch at the same time), this camera only requires the latch to be slid and the spring loaded door would open. This camera doesn't have a flash or a timer (selfies are out).

Thumbs up
Although it is not squishy like some floats, it is better for my uses. Most importantly your gopro will float to the surface and not sink with this item, you also can get better shots under water because this floaty keeps your fingers and hands away from the lens and microphone. Also makes shooting easier for those less experienced with a gopro. It's size is good for kids who smaller hands might have problems gripping just the gopro in its waterproof case.
It is large enough to hold with both hands, this will give you steadier shots. Flat bottom makes it a portable monopod great for steady panning shots with gopro when steadied by a stationary object like a chair or tabletop, even at the beach I sat on the sand and rested it on my knee. It can even even be placed on a flat cooler or other surface and used as a tripod for selfie with a go pro or for large group shots when you want to include yourself. With a gopro adjusted straight up, this floaty will balance without falling over. If you want to couple with a traditional tripod, the nut on the bottom of the float fits a standard tripod screw. This means you have one less gopro adapter you have to pack when traveling, for me it was just more convenient.
One side comment I made a dome for my gopro to shoot in water and the orange foam pad sold as a floaty was too bulky and got in the way. This removable floaty worked better in this case. Before you buy anything, try to think of your usage, nothing is perfect for eveyone, but this was the best option for me.
