Excellent Long Macro
1 of 1 found this helpful I am quite satisfied with the performance of this lens in the short time I have had it. Very sharp with nice bokeh. A great focal length for handheld spring flower shots although it can be a challenge to manage without stabilization. I have not had a chance to shoot it with my tripod yet but I expect it to do very well. The af is fine. I think if you need to go from close to infinity or the opposite, it will hunt so the key is to select the distance I am shooting at first and not expect to go back and forth instantly.

Sigma 18-50 Lens Hood Vignettes
The lens hood is too long so it obstructs some of the light causing vignetting in the corners of my 18-50 shots. This vignetting is prominent below 35mm but clears up after that. This is unfortunate and makes the product less than satisfactory for my use. I can consider the low price a compensation as the lenspen and filter cover are fine.

The camera is fantastic! Great pictures, easy to use.
1 of 1 found this helpful Newest technology. The earlier model (D80) was hard to find (discontinued) and not as good. I already had a Nikon-friendly zoom so I never considered any other brand. I like the fact that the controls are similar to my old film slr (the N80). It will take forever to learn all the controls, but it takes great pics right off the bat. I do not have to wait for the initial delay as I do with my point and shoot. There is virtually no delay. I am not so happy with the video especially because I need to purchase an additional mini-standard hdmi cable to play it back. The cable should be included. I would have more to say, but I have only scratched the surface of the D90's capabilities.
