Just being honest.
2 of 5 found this helpful Perhaps this unit has its place, but surely not as a main vacuum cleaner. If your dog sheds a lot of fur, expect to return to the trash can a lot. On 1 set of 14 stair steps I had to empty the Shark 8 times. I also suggest you empty it in an outside trash bin so the dust and fur does not re-enter your room. Another trick when you empty the unit (outside only) is to have a soft bristle brush so you can dust off the gasket. This will keep the gasket clean and the suction at maximum for this type of a part time vacuum cleaner.
Don't forget to clean the main filter for maximum suction. Another trick I use in-between washings is to take my dust brush that is attached to my upright and suck out the surface dirt out on the Shark filter. I do not take the filter out of the Shark until it is time to wash it. Doing this should keep the suction at maximum and extend washing time.
The carpet head is approximately 10" wide, so you will have to do a few more strokes to clean the same area as a normal carpet cleaner. The beater brush is not what I would call powerful and it does not do edging very well (as stated in their own manual).
For deep cleaning I use my water vacuum or my 10 amp upright. For small surface clean ups I use the Shark vacuum. The Shark is also used to clean my lounge chairs, sofa, and curtains. Also, It is pretty handy to have for cleaning the uprights on the stair steps. In my opinion the Shark is a handy expensive gadget, I sure hope all those plastic parts hold up. The lighting on the Shark is superior to any vacuum I have ever owned. (;-))

Black & Decker did a great job on the packing of this tool, heavy box with slick finish, heavy inserts to keep everything tight while in the box. Very happy to see a chain & bar cover included with unit.

SAS Dust Mask
3 of 3 found this helpful SAS makes excellent products, made in the good old U.S.A. This type of mask works great for mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges & keeping the dust out. I have higher rated SAS masks for chemicals, paint fumes, and of course they are not light weight or very easy to breath through. Never the less the SAS dust mask makes it easy to breath, light weight, and I have never had the single band break on me. Unlike other masks from the past where the band would break before I got it over my head. SAS = GOOD PRODUCTS = U.S.A.
