5 ⭐️ Collection of "Old Mother Riley" DVDS including previously LOST film & 2 exclusive documentaries "Arthur & Kitty" & "Bridget's Night Out" xxx
1 of 1 found this helpful Just before Christmas I went to spend a month with my dad (who is in his early 50's & currently working overseas in Dubai!) & one evening over supper our conversation turned to movies & which we each thought should be listed as a "Classic" so he went on to ask me if I'd ever seen any of the "Old Mother Riley" movies starring Arthur Lucan & Kitty McShane?
Being in my early 30's I'd never even heard of their names, never mind seen any of their movies (especially seen as they'd been made between 1936 & 1952 which turned out to be years before me AND my dad had even been born!!!) but within minutes of broaching the subject he was sat there across the table from me in absolute HYSTERICS & genuinely had tears of laughter streaming down his face as he was clearly remembering one particular part of the movie he'd seen & was TRYING to explain to me just how extremely funny HE had found the movie to be & how funny he found Arthur Lucan to be as the actor who played the PART of Mrs Riley!!! (Which by this point was pretty obvious to me AND the 4 other tables that were surrounding ours in the restaurant if you can imagine the scene?🤣🤣🙈lol)
Anyway.. as you're probably aware it's VERY difficult to interpret & understand what makes a certain film "funny" without seeing it for yourself or perhaps knowing the actors mannerisms so that you can possibly compare them to other movies you may have seen them in but after seeing my dads reaction that night to a movie he hadn't watched in OVER 20 years... I just knew I had to at least TRY & find a copy somewhere so that I could watch it for myself & then see if it really WAS as funny as my dad had told me it was??
So.. to anyone who has chosen to read my review today & has gone through all my ramblings on about me being in a restaurant in Dubai having my supper with my dad & you've managed to get THIS far without skipping off because you actually WANT to find out my opinion on this Boxset??
MY advice to you is that you should definitely BUY IT & I sincerely believe in my heart that you won't be disappointed if you do... they really are THAT funny!!!🤣 Trust me!!!👍
My intention when I eventually came across this Boxset was to buy it, watch it for myself & then give it to my dad when I go back to visit him later this year but after watching all the movies for myself this week (& having tears of laughter rolling down my OWN cheeks & sides aching from all the laughing!!!😂)
I've decided I'm going to KEEP this copy for myself & buy my dad a Boxset of his own because Arthur Lucan really was a COMEDY GENIUS & I am so glad my dad randomly brought up the conversation of movies that night because if NOT I might never have known these comedy classics even EXISTED & in my eyes that would have been an absolute travesty!!!
