A gamer's equivalent of crack...
***WARNING! THIS GAME MAY CAUSE YOU TO LOSE COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SLEEP! SIDE EFFECTS INCLUDE POSSIBLE ADDICTION, SEEING FALLING BLOCKS WHEN NOT PLAYING THE GAME, AND A SUDDEN URGE TO DANCE OR NOD YOUR HEAD TO THE MUSIC!!*** Now that that's out of the way, let the review begin. Before I bought Lumines, I had read glowing reviews that proclaimed that Lumines was one of the best game available for the PSP. Now that I have bought it and played for countless hours, I can now tell you that this is true. Lumines is by far the best puzzle game I have ever played. I usually start a review by discussing its graphics and sound, but here I feel that I must start by talking about the gameplay. The genius of Lumines lies in its simplicity. No complicated rules, no powerups, only cube shaped blocks in a variety of two, yes two, colors. The objective of the game is to create squares/rectangles which will then be eliminated by the time line, a vertical line moving across the screen. I'm not going to digress into a lengthy explanation of the rules, just know that it's not as easy at it sounds. As you eliminate more blocks, your level and score goes up. This is where Lumines really shines. Every certain amount of levels, the "skin" of the game changes. The blocks change color and shape, and the background changes to match the skin. Also, each skin brings about a music change. In addition to the graphic and music changes, the speed of the blocks and the time line also change with the skin. This variety in gameplay ensures that you never get bored. There are also a variety of different modes to play in, so you'll have plenty of options if you get tired of anything. There were times where I played for hours on end without noticing time going by. And after I was done, I kept seeing blocks falling in my head... I'm not joking. The graphics in Lumines are simple, which blends well with the gameplay. The skins are delightful and full of color, adding an aesthetic element to an already solid game. Musically, Lumines has an awesome soundtrack! The different songs in the skins are great, and every time you eliminate some blocks, there is a sound effect that fits into the music. So you're controlling the song with how you play the game! This is one unique part of Lumines that pushes it to the top of the ladder in puzzle games. Overall, Lumines is an awesome game. If you don't like puzzle games, you'll still enjoy Lumines, and if you do, this is a must have! With stellar gameplay, music, and graphics, Lumines shines far above other puzzle games!

Definitely not Madden, but fun nevertheless!
Some people will hate this game, some people will love this game. The first reviewer obviously hated it. I, on the other hand couldn't stop playing until I was done with the game! The graphics in this game are typical of PSP games; solid, colorful, detailed graphics that add to the overall game experience. However, there are only a select number of different fields, and playing the same field over and over can get repetitive. The NFL players were well rendered, and the many player appearance customization options were a plus. Adding to the game's overall feel was the different hip hop and rock songs, which seemed very appropriate with the nature of a "street" game. Other than that, sound didn't stand out very much, but it doesn't need to in this type of game. Although the awesome graphics and music were nice, the gameplay is what really made this game enjoyable for me. Football-wise, this is a poor game, with not a large selection of plays and rules. However, if you bought this game expecting a Madden-style football game, well.... duh, it's definitely not Madden. Jukes, jumping off the walls, and cannonballs are among the many tricks you can do to earn points (not to be confused with the actual score.) Earn enough points, and.... GAMEBREAKER! For those of you who haven't played a "street" game before, we'll just say that this is a special move that can turn the game around. It's a different twist on football... and it was loads of fun to me. Although some people might find NFL Street 2 a bit repetitive, there are many different modes of play to keep players interested. Although the game's football engine is not the best, NFL Street shines in its player customization. I'm a small guy, so it was an absolute thrill to create a skinny guy, beef him up to 6'10" 350 lbs, and max out his speed and power stats. .. I was running through Warren Sapp and all the other NFL D-Linemen like Jerome Bettis against NCAA D-III players. :) Overall, NFL Street 2 Unleashed is a breath of fresh air for gamers who want something different than Madden. Get this one!

I Bought A PSP Because I Wanted to Play Hot Shots Golf
It was sometime late in 2005 when my friend showed me his new toy... a PSP with Hot Shots Golf. He let me play it for a little while, and it was then that I decided... I had to have a PSP to play that addicting game! HSG makes golf video games fun to the normal gamer! I've never played any sort of golf game before HSG, and I never thought I would enjoy playing one. But there's just a lot of little things which added up to one great game... that kept me coming back to play over and over again. Graphics for this game are bright, colorful, and very aesthetic. This is not your typical Tiger Woods golf game, and it shows. From the opening video, HSG shows its intent and purpose: to be an extremely fun game to everyone. Courses are detailed, and vary greatly from each other in appearance. Characters have different apparel that they can wear, which players can unlock in different ways. The sound in HSG is, well... playful. Music is upbeat, and adheres to the overall feel of the game. Sound effects are somewhat limited, although taunting in multiplayer games is hilarious and quite annoying to other people as well, I'm sure. Gameplay is awesome in HSG! In an almost RPG style, you can unlock harder courses, better skills and equipment, which helps you to beat the harder tournaments and match plays. After awhile, the difficulty of this game gets quite high, and a player may find themselves having to repeat a tournament a few times before winning. And practice makes perfect, so it'll take awhile before you become worthy of the harder courses and challenges. In addition to the normal gameplay, there is a putting mode, which you can unlock apparel from. Also, there are medals that you can receive for different achievements, such as a hole-in-one, or double eagle, or getting all items. These medals are very difficult to get, and allow for even more replayability. In conclusion... Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is an awesome game! Now that it's a greatest hit, and only costs $20, there's no reason for any type of gamer not to buy this one! Trust me... this one is worth it!
