A WIFI Gadget That Really Seems To Work
2 of 2 found this helpful This wifi adapter changed my life. I work on an ocean going ship with limited access to internet. I ordered this to use with my laptop in my stateroom. When it arrived, I placed it in the stateroom window, plugged it into the laptop usb, and it immediately connected to a nearby hot spot. (We were in port at the time.) Then, I loaded the proper drivers and it really took off! While the majority of hot spots are password protected and cannot be used I can still access one or two that I can use to check my email. It's sensitive enough to pick up wifi hot spots when we are at sea but within sight of land although the signals are too weak to be usable. Not bad for an adapter that costs less than twenty bucks.
I only use Windows 7 so do not know how it would work with other OS's. I give this adapter five stars and can recommend it to anyone who has wifi problems. The only warning is that it does put an additional drain on your laptop battery so, if you rely on battery power alone you won't be able to surf as long. I always switch off the laptops internal wifi card when using this device to save power.

Good product and great value!
I bought this to save some files and backup everything on my ancient Thinkpad. :) It's a great thumb drive but, I found it would not hold any where close to 16GB of data until I formated it with an NTFS file system. I had to do the format in DOS for some reason, too. There seemed to be something on the drive that needed to be nuked.
Once I figured all of this out I had no problems and it holds all 16GB (or close to it). Maybe my laptop is too old? Anyway, if it came with a lanyard so I could carry it around my neck I'd have given it five stars.
