A very good tool.

Misses the gospel mark, but very interesting
The story is unique and shows a lot of imagination, but the ending closes in very quickly andis over in a flash. The main character seeks assurance of his redemption before God, and tries to do this by living a good life. Rather than telling the Bible truth about faith by grace, a quick dose of "It's A Wonderful Life" is all the hero is offered.

Compelling and historically important
This is reported to be the best autobiographical book written by an enlisted man in any American war. I agree.
