Will not raise tire ...!
I was careful to observe and follow the caution of not operating past the stop nor winding without weight on the winch. I found that the spare tire winch was not capable of raising the weight of the tire !!!
Since I had to travel, I raised the tire on a floor jack while retracting the winch mechanism. I did not trust the quality of the winch so wrapped a chain around the tire I case the winch failed to hold the tire weight.
I’m traveling with the hope of not having to deal with the spare - will get a good quality replacement at a later time...
