Great product about a great team of characters and football players!
Although I'm a New Yorker, I started following and rooting for the Eagles as a 10-year-old in 1954. I watched a team that struggled to get to .500 with good, but not great players. Except for the Golded Greek, Pete Pihos, the tight end who had helped the Eagles win two NFL Championships in 1948-49. I loved to watch Pihos, even though I saw him at the tail end of his great Hall of Fame career. Then around 1958, the Eagles got Norm Van Brocklin, possibly the most accurate long passer in NFL history. He and Tommy McDonald, Pete Retzlaff, Leo Sugar, and the great Chuck Bednarek, actually beat the "dynasty-to-be-" Green Bay Packers with Jim Taylor, Bart Starr and of course Vince Lombardi in 1960 -- an amazing feat. These DVDs tell the whole story from the beginning up to Donovan McNabb and recent teams, and the films are clear and sound is very good. Tommy McDonald crying is something to watch. Tommy, the last player to wear no face guard on his helmet, was an amazing athlete, who says that if not for the incredible Norm Van Brocklin at QB, his name might never be remembered, much less inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Really great DVD's for any Eagle's fan, or any football fan who wants to see some great players who played for the Eagles. Watching the early footage, you come away amazed at the toughness and love for the game (very low pay) of the early players. A guy like Chuck Bednarek, a 60-minute player in his mid-thirties, was as tough or tougher than anyone in the NFL right now. There was Bert Bell at the beginning, owning the Eagles and then becoming NFL Commissioner. Steve Van Buren, incredible early version of Jim Brown, leading the Eagles to back to back championships in the late 1940s. What a great set of DVD's!!!
