Good for the $$
Originally bought these for camping comms but they have turned out much more utilitarian; we use them on convoys on the highway or off-roading in the desert or just keeping the kids busy. They are advertised as five mile radios but that must be mountain top to mountain top. On the highway or the desert they work crystal clear up to 1/2 mile with ranges up 3/4 mile away with line of sight, beyond that there is plenty of static and you’ll have to rely on Morse code. But for less that $30 used I can’t complain.
