Helmet D-ring chin strap conversion
Loved this product. Easy install on my snowmobile helmet. D-rings on a snowmobile helmets are a joke. When it’s below zero, you need to clip and unclip fast and secure. This product is significantly more robust than the other D-ring chin strap quick disconnect conversions. I installed on two helmets, took only a few minutes to complete. I would recommend the manufacturer get a how to video up on YouTube for a novice. I added some small zip ties to mine ti secure the D-rings from flapping around. See picture.

Scala Rider Packtalk- Probably great for motorcycles, not as good on snowmobiles
The quality and the technology are fantastic, and for what 80% of all riders use this for, it probably works great, but for those of us who ride in really snowmobile conditions, which has a lot of changing topography, trees, and other obstructions that greatly reduce the distance of the communications, I would probably recommend using something different. The new Mesh Technology which reconnects riders when your signal drops and then reconnects you is great. However the distance is significantly less than what it says and every Youtube video review I've watch says it can do. We tested in a straight, flat un-obstructed line of sight, with the attenas in the up possition, and barely made it two football fields or 400 yards or just under 1/4 mile. If we had a change of elevation or trees, turned a corner and lost visual sight of the other sled, that dropped the connecting distance dramatically. The reality is, motorcycle riders, usually travel in much tighter packs, so not a big deal for that type of use. When you are snowmobile riding in tree lined trails and dealing with snow dust, you are typiclaly riding much further apart than what happens in testing. That said, if you are snowmobiling with a pack of riders, family, kids or a club that is used to riding at slower speeds and shorter distances, the clarity in communications is fantastic. The clarity sounds like you're in the same room. The factory ear buds are very high quality, music sounds great when paired with your phone. The packaging is also impressive, maybe even over the top a bit. The App is also very cool, but not practicle for a snowmobiling, but it would be very cool if your phone is mounted on your motorcycle handlebars. I have to reluctantly return this prodcut, as max distance is more imporant to me for safety, than all the cool bells and wistles you get with this communicator.
