Encouraged kids to read.
It is important to encourage the youth in our Juvenile Detention Centers to read. So they can get meaningful employment. Most read at 4 to 5th grade level as an average. As a JDC librarian I find that they respond well to Gordan Korman’s books as evidenced by their reading vol. 1 of “On the Run” series and then pursuing vol. 2 - 6.
Fourth grade reading level is common in our adult prisons.

Good stimulus to read
In working with the youths in the Juvenile Detention Center I find this series really grabs their attention. They really need to improve their reading skills and this encourages those who score lower to really try. Glad to find a complete set.
