Canon IXUS 70 Digital Camera
6 of 6 found this helpful I had been using an Ixus 50 which got the dreaded E80 error as the lens had come out in my pocket and damaged itself. This really is a bad design fault. So I wasn't sure whether to go with another Canon or change completely. Having done an extensive review I decided to go with this camera. It is very similar to the Ixus 75 but retains the viewfinder which I feel is essential in bright sunlight. It can be difficult to see an LCD particularly if you are a bit older and wear glasses for reading but don't have them on when out and about.
The LCD is much bigger and brighter than the Ixus 50 and is very easy to see. Some of the unneccesary bells and whistles have been removed from the menu so it is very easy to set up and use. An example is the resolution setting not really needed as memory is cheap now and you can fit a 4 Gig card and have all photos at their best. The focussing works really well and with face recognition I found subjects were in sharp focus in difficult conditions. At 7 Mpixels I tried blowing up an image and you can see all the detail you need to get A3 prints. The movie mode and timer work well and are easily accessible. Macro mode lets you get close to take those objects for Ebay.
The buttons have been improved so its less likely to get turned on accidentally, still it is best to put it away set to review mode so the lens can't come out in error. All in all highly recommended and if you are patient you can get ne for about £85 on Ebay.

Good quiet ATX supply
