One of the last old school canister vacuums, solid and well thought out
This machine was originally sold as the very first generation of the Kenmore Progressive. It was Panasonic's first take on a top of the line Kenmore canister vacuum after buying out Whirlpool's old vacuum manufacturing business, which included making most of the Kenmore branded canister vacuums and their top of the line uprights (Singer made the lower tier uprights and a couple of budget canister vacuums). This machine therefore was in production either as a Kenmore or as one of several different Panasonic models for twenty years. Any bugs were long ago remedied. Panasonic seems to have improved the plastics over the years and these are very sturdy, durable vacuums. The power nozzle is based on the old geared belt Powermate first introduced in 1980 by Whirlpool but Panasonic greatly improved it by replacing the geared belt drive with a modern, silent, poly v-belt drive. It is a huge improvement over the original. They use rollers on the rear instead of plastic wheels that often wear and fall off. They are overbuilt and will stand up to decades of use. Wands are old school stainless steel and the vacuum comes with four big traditional American attachments common to Kenmores since the dawn of time. None of these dainty little kids toys the overpriced German vacuums try to pass off as attachments. You can do some real cleaning with these. Nothing fancy here, just a good workmanlike product that will give its owner a couple of decades of good service if the owner takes care of it. Change the filters every six bags full, use cloth HEPA dust bags instead of paper (the Kenmore Q bag fits these and is widely available). I also suggest replacing the original foam pre motor filter with the Kenmore CF-1 two stage HEPA filter. Do these things and the dust doesn't get past the bag. Your vacuum stays clean inside and that keeps airflow up and your motor cool so it lasts a long time. Great machine at any price but for the price it is a tremendous value.

Some good, some not so good. High quality let down by major inadequacies.
Interesting cross of European and American vacuum sensibilities manufactured in China. It has a hose and powered floor brush used on other US market Panasonic canister vacuums as well as many Kenmore canister vacuums manufactured by Panasonic at their plant in Monterrey, Mexico.. These items feel familiarly American as we have seen them on Kenmores and Panasonics for decades. Like all Panasonic vacuums it has a great motor with huge suction so there is no lack of cleaning power. Their motors are typically durable. Materials and finish are to a very high standard. The Chinese made floor brush is indistinguishable from a Mexican made version. Very good quality.
However it is let down by it's Euro style features. While it's certainly stylish and has the clever Optiflow diverter cage like their current top of the line models, the bag and bag chamber are much too small. There are only two attachments, a crevice tool and dusting brush, and both are tiny child's toys useless for serious cleaning. There is no upholstery brush or floor brush provided. No turbo brush either. Panasonic usually has excellent full sized attachments so this is a real disappointment. And, where other Panasonic and Kenmore canisters blow filtered exhaust air from the motor back into the canister body to manage heat at the cord reel and electronics, letting it escape from several openings in a diffuse manner, this vacuum blows the exhaust right out the rear of the vacuum. Unlike other Panasonics, the exhaust stream is noticeable and bothersome. The one European feature that is nice are the three castering wheels. It is very maneuverable. Unfortunately for me the lack of acceptable attachments and the small bag chamber make it a poor choice for a working vacuum. Better to buy an MC-CG917, which has a more advanced motor, the same hose, floor brush and Optiflow feature found in this vacuum, but much better attachments and more than double the bag capacity for roughly the same price. Or pop for the MC-CG937 and get variable motor speed allowing you to vary suction for conditions with a slide control on the hose handle.
I love Panasonic vacuums but give this one a pass. They have functionally better machines for you.

Bought this as a spare as they are long out of production and no parts are available
This is an out of production Samsung Power Brush that was sold with the last year or two of the Samsung Quiet Jet canister vacuum, as well as the Bissell Digipro and Samsung Digimax canister vacuum (same machine just different brand names). It's not a bad power nozzle, a tad light weight but for some that is an advantage. Quiet and easy to use. The major drawback is that nearly every part used on these is out of production. The brush roll drive motor is common to many other machines so you can find one of those if you need it but every other part is no longer available. When the brush roll wears out, a normal wear item, there are no replacements available anywhere. I bought this one to keep for spares for my Bissell Digipro Power Brush. Really a shame because I bet a lot of otherwise perfectly good Samsung and Bissell vacuums are in the landfill because the owners could not get simple replacement parts for the power brush.
