This has thinner fabric than the original one, this makes it better as baby seems to sit a bit lower in it making it more comfortable. In my old one I have trouble with baby's head being right at my chin height- particularly in the newborn hug hold. This being said the old one has lasted through a lot of use with 2 babies and still looks good and works well on number 3. I bought this as a second one so I had one to wash and I hope it lasts as well. I use it almost every day with my 2 month old.
