Hycote Aerosol Spray Stripper Varnish Lacquer Finish Remover Cleaner 400ml x2

Useless on Polyurethane varnish

I bought the stripper to remove the varnish from a gretsch guitar. Followed the instructions on the can, waited for 15 minutes and found that the stripper had no effect at all. I am guessing that the varnish on the guitar is polyurethane, a very common finish. I would have thought that a product labelled 'varnish lacquer finish remover' should remove polyurethane. If it is not intended to remove polyurethane, then it should say so on the can. Generally I have found Hycote products to be excellent, however in this case it was very disappointing.
