Better than the original.
I had an original 5150 full stack. Great if you needed distortion all the time. With the 6505+ you get the added EQ whereas the original 5150/6505 had just the one for both. This resulted in muddy clean tones with your EQ set for your distorted tone. The 6505+ is everything the original needed to be, plus you get footswitch able “Crunch” on the first channel, and biasing jacks on the back so you don’t have to take the amp out of the chassis to bias your amp after putting in new power tubes.

16 Ohm Hot Plate w/5150
Great for a loud amp; wont make into new amp, but will take a 120-watt amp down to reasonable to whisper quiet. But have realistic expectations-You can't preserve perfect tone when an amp is made to work at arena volume, yet playing in a bedroom. Worth the money!

A truly great amplifier!
If you play out you get tired of having to always bring pedals to overdrive or distort your Fender amp. With this amp you get a tool that gives you great Fender cleans yet overdrive to distortion ranging from SRV to Yngwie and it sounds great! It has what a gigging guitarist needs to play in one package with a great footswitch and cover included. Fender listened to players and it shows!
