A family thing!
Acquisition of this unit was a personal thing for me. My mother’s step-sister’s husband was a trainman on the Lackawanna. His occasional trips from NJ to Chicago included a “bridge” on the Nickel Plate.

Not your usual caboose
If you’re into HO trains, it’s something to look into. If you take care of your toys, durability shouldn’t be a problem. And if you can be happy watching someone else’s exquisite handiwork and take in all that it encompasses, then yes, it’s not only entertaining, but educational.
