Fantastic, portable everyday camera
Coming from a DSLR with some decent lenses, I thought this would be a major letdown in terms of image quality. It's not, and not by a long shot. I was also worried about low-light performance, but the image stabilization here is really amazing and let me get sharp results indoors, in a dark bar, shooting handheld at ISO 200 (1/4 second shutter!). So yeah, unless you need fast action capture in low light, no worries here.
Add on how much more portable this really is, especially with the retracting electronic-zoom kit lens, and it's become my go-to camera for all but the most specialized purposes.
Pros:
- Very fun to use, both in auto/semi-auto and full-manual capacity
- Much more portable than most DSLRs, and that extends to the available lenses too
- Retro styling definitely doesn't hurt
Cons:
- Electronic zoom on the kit lens can take some getting used to, if you're not already
- Power switch has a long throw and is the only part/button/dial that doesn't feel really solid
