Logitech 915-000074 Harmony 1100 Universal Remote Control Color Touch Screen
Feb 08, 2016
Great Universal Remote
I am disappointed that this remote has been discontinued by Logitech, however it is still a nice little unit. The unit is smaller than I thought. Similar in size to an XBOX controller. Nice form-factor. I have always wanted a touchscreen remote to control my AV Receiver (Sony STR DA2800ES), Dish Network Receiver (ViP722) and my Sony Projector (HW40ES). It takes a little bit of time to program the unit since you do the programming from your computer. To make changes, you have to make the changes on your computer, download the programming to the remote, test it, and then make changes again. If you have the IR Blaster, you have to download the programming into that as well as the remote control. The process is cumbersome, but worth it in the end. The biggest problem I have found with any universal remote is that the equipment status (On/Off) gets out of sync with the remote. The remote has no way of knowing if something is on or off. So if you press the icon for "Watch DVD", and something does not work, the remote takes you through a process of sending signals to the equipment, and then asks you on the display "Did this Fix the Problem". You then say 'yes' or 'no', then it asks you if each piece of equipment is turned on. It is s quick and simple process to go through. This feature alone is what makes this remote such a great little find. For the first time in 8 years that I have had my Home Theater, my wife and kids can all turn it on, watch Dish Network, watch a DVD, or listen to music. All without changing the programming.
