A good starter Mac
If you want to get familiar with the Apple experience without making a big commitment, then this could be the way to do it. I got a very clean well preserved model and it has worked out really well. Since this will run Snow Leopard or Lion versions of OSX, there's lots of newer software that has left it behind. That still leaves a large body of stuff that runs on it, like Firefox or the GIMP. I found older versions of iMovie and Garage band that work with it, so there's plenty of ways to make this useful. You might find you like the Mac and cross over to that side of things.

Long running time?
Long is subjective, and if you are a fly who has three days to live then these last a lifetime. They don't seem to last as long as some of my 2200 batteries from 5 years ago.

A step above the basic Chromebook
0 of 1 found this helpful I started using a borrowed Chromebook occasionally, usually to quickly look up something on the web when I wanted a full page or tabs that were awkward on my phone. What I liked was that I could flip it open and go. I have a Macbook and a Dell Latitude that are dedicated for projects, and it was slower to bring those out of sleep and load up a browser. The Chromebook is just the thing for the job, so I decided to get one.
This particular model has twice the RAM and storage of the one I borrowed, and a faster processor. Other than the power supply, I don't have anything that plugs into the USB-C ports, but fortunately it has a couple legacy USB ports for the things I do have. It performs well, as I am a heavy tab user, and isn't prone to getting bogged down like a basic model. It's fairly light, battery life is decent, though I don't always believe the expected time on the battery icon, I have the AC adapter close at hand and have not brought it out on the road.
The app store has a decent selection, and a few surprises. There are decent options for photo editing and writing, and integration with Google services. I have found nothing decent for video editing or web building, other than going online to do that. That is more of a platform review than this particular model. Now here's the neat surprise. I have a RTL-SDR dongle, which is a device that can receive radio signal like FM, and also aviation and police scanning. I found an app that can support that, and was very pleased as I didn't expect to.
