Fun way to introduce VP life with elementary school children
2 of 2 found this helpful I loved the point of view of the endearing bunny as an adorable "fly on the wall" during a day with the VP. I ordered this for my grand-niece and reviewed it before mailing. The book is appropriately recommended for ages 4-8 at a 2nd grade reading level. Despite what I've read in other comments about the poetry being forced or contrived, I must disagree! This is natural verse. Poetry that is contrived is forced to rhyme perfectly every time. The art work was fine. I have seen artwork like this in other books. I thought it could have been a bit more precise, but it is watercolor, after all. I learned several things from this book, such as the names of the buildings where the VP lives and works. The book informs of some VP business on an appropriate level for the intended audience. VP Pence is referred to as "grampa", so even when another VP takes his place, it will still be relevant. There was no attempt to influence politically or send a social justice message, which is just what I was looking for. Just the facts, thank you, for little children who do not need to be indoctrinated about things that they cannot understand. Let them be kids! The proceeds go to fight against human trafficking, which truly needs to be addressed, even though it is not mentioned in the book.
