    Sony TPS-L2 or WM-3 - 1 set of 2 belts plus idler tire for TPS-L2 WM-3 walkman
    Jun 07, 2017
    Saved my Wm-3!
Loose belts aren't fun. Taking apart a WM-3 or TPS-L2? Even less fun. But these replacement belts work wonders. And it makes these machines from the early 80's (Nearly 40 years!!) work like a charm. Now of course, these will help get your Walkman back to spec as far as speed, but expect to still have a little wow and flutter unless you really know how to fix that kind of thing. Again, these machines are nearly half a century old so cut it some slack! Most will still work great if all you do is replace the belts. Anyway, great replacements! Highly recommended!
NEW KEF LSX Hi-Res Wireless Music System Pair of Speakers - Olive Green
    Jan 02, 2020
    Great speakers, Terrible app(s)
The sound quality of these speakers is akin to that of the LS50 but less bright on the highs, and with a much smaller sound stage. This really isn’t an issue if you intend to use them as desktop speakers or as standmounts in a small living area. For the price, I think these are a little overrated, but if you can find them cheap they are worth it. Plus the design of the speaker cabinet itself is just exquisite. I have these set up at work on my desk and everyone talks about them as they pass by - then they HEAR them and they fall in love with them. The main downside of any KEF wireless speaker available right now is that they all use KEF’s weird duo of apps (KEF control and KEF stream) and that there is no way to use the speakers without having them connect to WiFi. None. I found this out the hard way when I brought them to the office and had to get the WiFi password in order to even set these up. Annoying yes, but in the modern age not unexpected! Overall these are good speakers if you’re looking for a high end sound but don’t want to drop more than $1k on speakers.
SONY STR-DA5400ES RECEIVER GREAT WORKING CONDITION!
    Jun 01, 2017
    Better than you think
It is 2017, and I have just bought this great STR-DA5400ES AVR system. It handles anything and everything you throw at it, Analog or Digital, and gives it a smooth but firm punch! Audio-wise, it is a superb piece of kit. I really bought it because of it's ability to handle DSD signal input over HDMI, something very few AVR's can do. The reason needed this specific capability is because I also own a Sony BDP-S570 that plays SACD's but has no Multi-channel Analog outs. A conundrum. So, realizing it had the ability to Output DSD over HDMI, I just needed a receiver that could take DSD through HDMI. A Difficult task! Finally, I sourced one through eBay for less than $300. Score! It helps that this is a superb 7.1 System with 6 HDMI-in's, and 2 outs. Only bummer is that this is too old for ARC (Audio Return Channel) capability, but it's a minor quibble. If your TV has Optical or analog (think RCA or 3.5 MM Headphone jack) and you have the right cable for the job, it's easy enough to hook up. The GUI is very helpful, albeit a bit slow and finicky to pull up properly. You can rename your inputs to specific names and re-arrange what plugs are assigned to which settings. I recommend only purchasing a used model WITH one or both (There are two, one for Zone 1 and Zone 2) remotes, as using the GUI and switching inputs is a PAIN without that. You'll also want the setup mic as well, as unless you can and want to be very specific about the (very customize-able) speaker setup settings, the mic helps you get through it in a flash, and you'll see a noticeable increase in fidelity from your chosen "sweet spot". This also helps with less than perfect speaker placement and rooming conditions. The 2-Channel Analog Direct is pretty good, however I find messing with the EQ presets and sound settings will give you the best results based on speakers, audio being played back, and so on. It's also worth mentioning that in even higher end models from this period, and later models as well, they use something called H.A.T.S. that stabilizes and improves audio playback over HDMI. This model does not advertise that it has this, (and in fact only the European release even has the H.A.T.S. indicator on the display screen) but it secretly does through switching on the option "Control for HDMI" in the settings! From what I understand, this setting also switches on and off the ability to have the AVR take over control of all the components plugged into it over HDMI. I have had mixed results with that, especially since I'm using it with an already temperamental Samsung smart TV. Interestingly, this AVR also sport 2 DMPort inputs for use with things like iPods and such. I haven't seen any used that come with this cable, but I happened to have one and it actually plays and controls the device attached and outputs an Analog signal to the AVR! Pretty neat. There's also inputs labeled for Phono (Record Players without Pre-amps), Analog Tape input and output, Mini-Disc Analog and Optical ins and outs(!), a shared Analog in for SACD and CD, as well as another Optical in for CD. Then your normal Multichannel inputs, and video, HDMI, and so on. One last detail. One great advantage in this AVR for Audiophiles or casual listeners who want more quality out of their listening without going through the hassle of buying an amp and all the required gear, this AVR has settings to switch the Surround Back channel into a Hi-pass speaker output for Bi-Amping with the Left and Right speaker channels. (Surround back handles the Highs, Left and Right handle the lows). This doesn't dramatically change the audio quality per se, but depending on what and how you're listening, and your set-up of course, you will definitely notice a difference. All in all, it's an excellent AVR, especially for the going price of around $250-$350 in 2017. Original MSRP was closer to the $3k margin! Great piece of kit. -R
