Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo V5535 (Celeron)
My first look at a FS Esprimo V5535 was when I was repairing a friends laptop (they had dropped it and it had cracked the AC Jack on the motherboard) Whilst I was waiting for the replacement AC Adaptor jack to arrive I had a nosy around the innards of the laptop.
I was quite amazed that the motherboard would happily alternate from 533MHz, 667MHz and 800MHz meaning you can very easily pull out the underpowered Celeron processor and fit a variety of quicker processors. The maximum processor Fujitsu say will work is a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7300, although other non offical reports on the web indicate this to be wrong as other people have successfully fitted even faster CPUs (e.g. "a T9500 works great on a v5535. Got it running now, a total of 2 cores each running at 2600mhz") Also depending on the BIOS the motherboard is running will also increase the maximum memory capacity to 4GB.
Therefore for a new'ish looking laptop this is absolutely GREAT! Cheap to upgrade to the same spec as a brand new laptop at half of the cost! Another thing which impressed me was the large rear panel on the underside, four screws allow access to the processor, the fan, the memory and the wifi card. Rarely can you access all these items from just removing one panel on a laptop.
Now for the niggles... These V5535's ship with Vista Home Basic. Installing Avast Anti-Virus, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, PC Tools Firewall slowed this machine down to a snail's pace. The solution... Buy yourself a Windows XP COA and install Windows XP. With those same security programs installed it's zipping along.
Although this laptop would never be deemed a hard core gaming laptop, purely because of the weakness of the onboard SiS graphics, it is however perfect for internet browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, photos, music etc.
Additionally this laptop does not have inbuilt webcam or bluetooth however for the price im certainly not arguing :-)

You could get worse, but you could also get very much better
I got one of these HD4870 because I already had one and wanted to run a Crossfire setup. Unfortunately my PSU was underpowered (although it was 620W) and I wasn't able to test my Crossfire setup. In the end I bit the bullet and upgraded to a R9 card which was loads better, however I understand we are here to talk about the HD4870 so.. performance is probably below average these days, however if your on a budget then you could do worse than getting one of these cards, they are overclockable however heat is the graphics card killer and the fan on these cards is very noisy, I used to use Speedfan to minimise the fan when not gaming then manually ramp up the speed when gaming.

Quad Core Happiness
So I purchased an i3 laptop, I then discovered it would take three different i5 chips and this, the i5-2520M was the cheapest of them all. Performance wise this is 140% quicker than the old i3 and was the best 'bang for my buck'.
