Vintage Sylvania H38JA-100 Mercury Vapor Lamp Bulb 100W Watt

Interesting vintage light bulb

Have always wanted one of these cute antique mercury vapor bulbs. It has been used before, but seems to work very well at full power, and also seems very tolerant of running at reduced power, such as applying 120V to the 277 tap of a 100 watt metal halide ballast. The color-correction coating is much thinner than any of my other lamps, yet somehow it works just as well. Package is in good shape, not dirty, not falling apart even though I believe these lamps to be 40-50 years old? If I were to nit pick, the label on the top of the bulb is worn away, it is not as good as the one in the picture. But it is still readable, no big deal.

Good replacement for EMPI CV axles.

Fits well on Empi CV axles, 74 type 1 bug. Flange is well-fitted, not loose but not too hard putting on. These boots appear to be designed not to use clamps, instead they have a thick section that stretches tightly over the axle. So it is possible that these boots are less resistant to water or will split in a few years, but they do fit tightly, yet didn't seem like they were about to tear. Helpful to ensure the splines are coated in grease all the way to the part where the boot clamps on. Had good results using a metal tube that just fits over the axle to push them on evenly. Was not able to get the old clamps on the new boots, but it should be possible to use ones of a slightly larger size.

This lamp does everything it's supposed to do. It is not all that bright and feels very warm. The color of the light output is an interesting silvery color
