Easy way to run 3 phase motors from household 220 volt single phase
The Phase o matic must be chosen for the proper horsepower you expect to run. I have had a 3 to 5 HP for some 30 years and have never had any problem. You cannot run a 1 HP motor witn a 3to 5 HP phase o matic unless you have an a motor of 3 or more Hp to start first as I understand it. I found that to be true and just started a 4 HP motor first. Less expensive converters are available but I have treied then and found it to be a waste of money. 3 phase motors are more versitle than single phase.
