Just as much fun as the first time
2 of 2 found this helpful I have been a fan of the MechWarrior franchise from the earliest days of its appearance on the computer, the original MechWarrior that featured Gideon B. Vandenburg trying to clear his family name and avenge their murders. Therefore I was excited when MechWarrior 2:Mercenaries came out, as it was the same type of game as the original MechWarrior. I hadn't played it in years, but saw it on Ebay and decided to take the plunge again. The graphics were dated as you'd expect from a game that is close to 20 years old, but the storyline was still compelling, the gameplay was intuitive and fun and the rewards for successful campaigns made it worth taking the risks. As someone who has been a gamer since the original Pong came out in the '70's, I can say that too many games today rely too much on graphics and cutscenes and not enough on characters and stories. MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries is a darn good yarn along with being a darn good game. Highly recommend the game to anyone who's never tried it and if you have, jump back in. The water's just fine...
