1 of 1 found this helpful This edition of book was published in 1956, the year my wife was born. It's in excellent condition considering it's age. The true story documents one of the greatest adventures ever told - I've read it at least a half-dozen times, and each time I find myself driving slowly by marinas with yachts for sale, and looking for ocean-capable sailboats on the internet We were sailors once, and whenever I read 'Sailing Alone Around the World', my spouse get's a little spooked. It seems like an easy read, but much of Captain Slocum's writing is quite subtle; there are hidden thoughts in many lines. Can't recommend it enough.
