Canon Speedlite 220EX
Small sized flash with big capabilities. I needed the small size so it could be carried around easily. Mostly used for outdoor 'fill', but works great indoors in small to medium sized rooms too. Not really designed for large rooms or crowd shots, but could be used for fill if available lighting is fairly good.
Takes 4xAA batteries which easily give you 200+ shots (or more if you're using it for fill only). I like this flash better for my needs than the newer (and much more expensive) versions.

Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
12 of 12 found this helpful When both set at f2.8, this lens is sharper at the edges at 50mm than my prime 50mm f1.4, and that's saying a lot. This has less distortion, when opened 'wide', than the 24-105 f4 or 24-70 f4 and is a full stop faster than these. The zoom is also easier to navigate than the 24-105 as it doesn't have such a wide range, so is faster and easier to control your shot. The 9-blade diaphragm gives 18-point stars, which look great. Focuses down to under 8", which means that you won't be moving around as much to get just about any shot that comes your way.
The Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a great addition to a serious photographer's arsenal.

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L - GREAT Lens!
0 of 1 found this helpful The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L is one of the best close-up portrait lenses ever made and is marvelous for exterior/interior architectural imaging. It produces a marvelous background 'bokeh', much better than the 'ii' version in my opinion. Well made and very durable.
You have to shoot closer to your subject with this than you would a 'standard' lens, but the results are spectacular.
