The Funk Brothers
Ever wondered where the drum beat in Marvin Gaye's "Heard It Through the Grapevine" came from? Or the guitar intro to "My Girl"? Or the signature Motown sound that you've heard in hundreds of songs? This video gives you a glimpse into that world. The preferred Motown recording band was the Funk Brothers and the Motown sound would not have been what it is without them.
I graduated from a Chicago area high school in 1966 and Motown was huge. I grew up listening to that music and loved it..... and I still do. Standing in the Shadows of Motown has added to that appreciation. We saw this film on cable TV and had to have our own copy.

An Unheralded Masterpiece
3 of 3 found this helpful You might assume this is a film with a science fiction slant because it works the time travel abilities of two of the lead characters. On the contrary, time travel is just a mechanism to build the story. And it's a story that shares the goodness of people and the building of strong and fulfilling relationships. The jacket cover says it's "sweet, sentimental, funny and totally charming". I couldn't agree more. We've watched this movie three times and enjoyed it every time.
