Can't recommend without Continuous-on switch

Platform seems sturdy and unit remains firmly on counter during operation. However, the timer has a 15 minute maximum set time with no capability for continuous "on". My application requires weeks or months of continuous use. The timer can easily be by-passed with a continuous-on switch but there is no hint in the instructions about what will happen if you do this. This unit has a hinged-covered compartment on the bottom which is empty. Perhaps, this is where the switch is meant to go.

Generic Car adapter not suitable for Garmin nuvi

A Garmin charger must have a 18 kohm resistor between pin 5 of the mini USB connector and ground to prevent the GPS from going into PC sync mode. ( Google it) This charger only has 2 wires connecting the USB plug, ground and power. The data lines are just floating so the Garmin will eventually after a few minutes go to navigation mode. Every time you start your car you must wait several minutes. The Garmin also uses the resistor value to set current draw. With no resistor, current is limited to below 0.5 A, meaning you can't charge and navigate at the same time. I was not able to test whether the charger is actually capable of 1.5 A while maintaining 5 V but I doubt it.
