NEW Viali V60DWW15 White Freestanding Dishwasher
    Mar 26, 2016
    Viali Dishwasher
An inexpensive, simple, easy to use dishwasher that does a good job of cleaning dishes etc. It only has three settings; heavy duty, medium duty and light duty. We've only used medium duty and it works fine. The wash cycle is also relatively quiet and it takes over an hour to complete a full wash on the medium setting. The only major gripe that I have is that the design makes it somewhat difficult to insert large plates, or a reasonable quantity of large plates. There is far too much room above the glass carrier (top tray), which could have been reduced to allow larger plates to be easily inserted. You cannot adjust the upper tray level, as the water inlet comes out from the back of the washer. The cutlery tray is also much larger than necessary, which inhibits the placement of plates. The cutlery tray allows you to place knives, forks etc into slots (72 slots!), or to remove the slots (panels) and three open areas. It will take a bit of time to get used to the different design of this dishwasher vs the previous one. Given some of the foibles, I'd still recommend it, on the understanding that it's not a premium dishwasher, so don't expect too much compared to expansive models. Only time will tell how well the dishwasher continues to work.

The fastest little label maker in the west
I needed a simple and easy to use label maker, as I was tired of setting up and using Avery laser labels, which were always a pain to set up and required you to print out an entire A4 sheet when all you wanted were a couple of labels. The Brother label maker installed without any hassles. I have a networked Brother laser and inkjet printer and the same applies, Brother has nailed printer installation whether it's USB or networking. The software that comes with the label maker is easy to use and has allowed me to make a bunch of templates for quick printing. And when I say quick printing, the Brother label maker spits out labels virtually in an instant. The quality of the output is also excellent, though I have no idea how long the thermal print will last compared to a laser label. That said, the imprint is much more solid than what you get with cash register receipts. I considered the network version, but I don't really need that so opted for the USB one. I can't find anything to note as a negative with the Brother label maker, as it does a simple job and does it well.

    A Great Bug Zapper
After having owned several of the barrel style bug zappers, I thought I'd try out one of these panel style bug zappers to see how they performed. First off, one of the reasons why I bought the panel type is because I thought that it would be easier and more convenient to locate the bug zapper. Being flat, you don't need as much room as with an equivalent wattage barrel style. The face of the bug zapper is also much larger and more visible than the barrel style, where with the barrel style the light tends to be obscured by the plastic framework of the housing. But all of this is moot if the unit doesn't work, so how does it work? After several weeks of reasonably regular use, it's proven to work well. It's not even located in a way where it gives maximum exposure to the veranda which it covers, yet the bugs seem to find it nonetheless. The tray at the bottom is a great feature and definitely collects all the remains. The wires of the bug zapper to date have remained quite clean and should they require a clean, it's easy to do. The only minor issue that I had with this unit is that there was a loose screw and washer rattling about and couldn't figure out where it had come from. But when testing the unit, it didn't appear to affect the operation and there were no obvious loose fittings inside or out.
