Excellent product
These were recommended by a fried, but I didn't make a move on them for some time, due to price. When I finally had to buy new heads, I ordered a set and was really surprised at how they change tuning and rehearing efforts. Logs line up nicely and the rim sits in a neutral position easier with these sleeves. They just don't look like they would anything more than the standard lug washers, but they really do make tuning easier and my drums have stayed in tune longer. Gives them a much more high dollar feel too, when tuning. There's less play and grinding on the logs. Simple, yet effective invention. Now, as for price, big box stores have plastic washers too, but are the same price and not designed for drums. These are thicker and don't crush under pressure. Highly recommended.

Unbelievable technology for the money!
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm new to mixing and recording, but fairly blown away at what all you can do with this for the cost. Clean, lag free audio. I bought it to mic up my drums, so I can control what I hear through isolation headphones. Drums are just too loud for anything else, and isolation headphones kill everything, so you can feel what you're doing, but can't hear it. Anything less and things get loud and chaotic fast. With a decent set of mics and the capabilities of the 18i20, I can thoroughly concentrate on my playing. I'm using it with Garageband and all the plugins work just fine. Love the capabilities of the unit and what it has done for my practice.

A Hidden Gem
Gretsch likes to ship their snares with 42 wires and a reverse dot head. There couldn't be a worse combo for this drum than the above. I was initially very disappointed in the tone of the drum. It was very high, but muted sounding with no body whatsoever. Replaced 42 strand strainer with a 20 wire and put on a 10mil, coated single ply head and voila! A whole different snare. The high, muted tone was now replaced with a ton of bottom end and far more open and full bodied tone.
The snare is very dry sounding, so not sure why Gretsch would have shipped it with the original head and strainer combo. Overtones are minimal, unless you play close to the edges. Then, probably some of the best timbale sounds I've been able to produce on any of my snares.
Very sensitive and responsive, even at low volumes. Rimshots are clear and powerful as well. I was curious as to why there weren't more reviews on this snare, but suspect it doesn't get much love with the head and strainer combo it ships with. Too bad, but because of this, I was able to get one and couldn't be happier with it.
By the way, mine came with cast hoops and not the 302 as in most adds.
