Modular game system for many game types
For those wanting a more detailed, less detailed, more realistic, less realistic, or whatever you want table-top experience, GURPS is the system to use. I like more realistic scenarios, but I also GM a fast-paced, seat-of-your-pants Sci-fi group, and GURPS is perfect for it. If you've heard about GURPS being too complicated, forget about it! It's as simple or as complicated as you want.
Yes, the layout makes learning the game more complicated than it should be, but remember every rule is optional and you'll be good to go.
