MAYPOLE RB1045 EAGLE UNIVERSAL ALUMINIUM ROOF BARS 1.35M FOR RAISED ROOF RAILS

    Nice roof bars
Nice roof bars. Easy to fit and seem sturdy enough for your average roof box etc. You need a separate allen key to secure to the roof which was provided. Very good value.
MANFROTTO Pixi Mini Tripod - White

    Good little tripod
Having broken a smaller one, I decided to get something I hoped was more robust without adding much weight. I opted for this one because it looks like it would do what I wanted. As it turns out, it is excellent quality, stable for a CSC and standard zoom and very well made. It might struggle with a larger camera and lens, but my Fuji XT-1 and 16-55 zoom is stable enough. I only got the white because it was £5 cheaper, otherwise black all the way.

    Cracking little camera
I bought this as an upgrade to my Canon S110 which I had to sell to fund a 'CSC acquisition project'. I loved the ultra-compact size of the S110, but wanted better image quality, better control and a bit more responsiveness. With the intended use for this camera, it had to meet six criteria. 1. Trouser pocketable (essential) 2. High quality image 3. Manual control 4. High build quality 5. Fast lens 6. Affordable (to me). And of course good ISO performance, quick focus, no shutter lag, reasonable zoom etc. etc. I did the research and the RX100M3 ticks all of these as follows: 1. It fits in a pocket and is okay if your trousers aren’t skin tight. It's more comfortable in a small bag or belt pouch but I have the option. 2. It isn't quite APS-C prime lens quality, but close enough not to matter. For most photos it is absolutely perfect. 3. I use mainly Fuji X with their wonderful manual controls. This one isn't quite the same and although there are several customisable function buttons and full manual control if required, there is too much menu delving to make it a quick easy use manual camera. However, there is nothing on the market of this size which compares to the manual control of the Fuji’s, so this is a compromise I have to accept as pocket-ability is THE essential feature. I will just have to keep playing with it until the menus are second nature. 4. It is very high quality and feels great in the hand (see below). 5. The lens is nice and bright and the zoom is perfect for me. My most used lens is a 24-70mm equivalent so this one fits the bill. 6. I can just about afford it after selling some other redundant stuff. It’s not cheap but this meets my essential criteria better than any other camera out there. (I would have bought the M4 because I generally like the latest stuff but I’m not into video and I can’t justify the extra £180.) Some extra from of grip is necessary as it's quite heavy for its small size and nothing to hold onto at the front. With a grip and wrist strap its very secure. I bought a metal grip from China for about £16 and this has helped considerably. I have to take it off to change the battery as it covers the door, but it's worth the minor inconvenience. It feels more secure in the hand than the rubber stick-on variety of grip, although those are okay. If I was to make my own improvement, I would add a horizontal scroll wheel below the shutter release button (similar to higher end DSLRs) and a small function button to the side of that. The function button would scroll through the ISO, speed, aperture and exposure compensation settings and the scroll wheel would adjust the chosen setting. The ring around the lens would be for manual focus only. With these improvements, it would be near perfect for what I want. Everything considered, I am very pleased with this camera. Would I buy it again if I lost it tomorrow? Yes I would, without hesitation.
