Good Times
I was at the Hootenanny that day, and it was a great time. Lots of acts playing multiple stages on a beautiful So Cal day. For fans of Rockabilly and American Roots Music, this is a great sampler. Stand out tracks from Rev. Horton Heat, Mike Ness, and Dave Alvin, plus some other long time rockabilly types like the Paladins and Russell Scott make it a great soundtack to a summer barbecue.

Of it's time, yet still timeless
3 of 3 found this helpful After watching an old SNL re-run not to long ago, with the Roches singing "The Hallaleluja Chorus," I remembered that I liked them back in the early 80's. Being a punk-rockin' guy, I of course couldn't admit that I liked the Roches back then. They weren't hot chicks, but quirky looking women with great voices. I'm older now, so it's okay to say I like them. The arrangements and production are excellent, and I enjoy listening.

Certainly of it's time
The big "hits" were "I Handle Snakes" and "Romeo Loves Jane," both of which hold up pretty well. The rest? Well back in the 80's, this was pretty cool stuff. Now, it sounds like stuff that was pretty cool in the 80's. If you need "I Handle Snakes" (I did), pick it up. If not, go to "Life in the Foodchain," which has aged much better.
