USED unit was faulty
Bought this USED unit to replace a faulty one. Problem was not resolved. Went ahead and bought a brand NEW one instead of this USED one and everything worked perfectly!
All units were of identical make and model.
I must have gotten a BAD used unit.
Not worth returning.

Inexpensive, works only okay for valve removal. NOT good for install
Worked to compress springs, but requires constant pressure to remove keepers. Was easy to use, but it's design had inherent faults.
On light weight aluminum heads like VW 1.8L the pressure required to compress the spring causes the head to flip over because of the side force. It requires holding down the head with something like your foot.
Ultimately, I gave up using this tool and just used a deep socket and a rubber mallet to complete the job. It would be virtually impossible to use this tool to INSTALL valves and springs on this 20v head.
I would not recommend to others. I ended up buying a C clamp type tool to install the new valves.

Low cost and completely functional.
Very simple device, did exactly as expected. Not much to it.
It is cheaply made in China, but does not need high precision to work properly.
The only drawback over the very expensive unit is that it does rely on the user to exert the correct amount of pressure on the pliers. A novice user could damage the clamp or not crimp it enough.
I find that using this type of clamp over the screw type on small hoses allows for more even sealing and less damage to the hose.
No need to add pictures. The auction listing pictures accurately shows the tool.
