Not All that Great
I must preface my review by stating that I bought this hedge trimmer used at approximately 50% off the list price of a new trimmer. It arrived in what appeared to be good condition and I started to use it the first weekend after receiving it. I did notice that even before using it, that the drive core would fall out of the tube if you held the device in an inverted position. I thought that this was normal, although the drive core does not fall out of any of the other devices that I used with my Ryobi 875r drive unit. Anyway, the trimmer worked for all of about 30 seconds. I disassembled the device at the connection between the drive tube and the gear box and I found what appeared to be broken metal part. After cleaning the grease off of everything, I determined that the broken part was some kind of metal part that was probably crimped to the end of the drive core. By trial and error, I also figured out that this part was important in keeping the drive core in the correct position to result in a solid connection between the motor drive unit and the gear box on the trimmer. I was cobbled up another metal piece that I crimped around the drive core to maintain what I hoped was the proper position. After putting everything together ... success! It worked. Now to the evaluation of the trimmer against small branches on a small tree and against a overgrown lilac bush. In both cases, the clipper worked only marginally well. The biggest problem is that the branches seem to simply slip out of the cutting teeth due to the angled design of the teeth. I believe that the trimmer would work considerably better with a better design of the blade assembly. In fact for the lilac bush, I went back to using my 20 year old Black and Decker "Hedge Hog". I still will use the Ryobi trimmer in the future where I need the additional reach that this device gives me, but for other bush trimming, I'll stick to using my manual clippers and the "Hedge Hog".

Exactly what I needed
Cable was exactly what I needed. I found it to be very flexible and appears to be high quality. I especially liked that fact that I was able to get (and pay for) only 30 feet which more closely matched what I needed rather than a 100 foot or 200 foot reel.
