So Far It's Good
Solar blankets are in the sun all day and take a beating. To this point we bought the blue ones, which were lesser mil and less expensive. A 7-year blanket lasted just 3 years, and we used it as directed. Then we had blue dots everywhere as the cover disintegrated. The company we bought it from honored the warranty by sending a replacement, which was poorer quality than the original one and lasted just a year. It appears they sent us a 3-year blanket, so it lasted 1 year.
We are spending more for a heavier cover. In placing it on the pool, we could see that it was indeed heavier. It does heat the water as intended, keeps down evaporation, and lessens the amount of dirt in the pool. This cover also has a warranty. Now we will have to wait to see how long it lasts. For the time being I am rating this as good, but if it performs no better then I will downgrade my rating.

Cheri's Products Are Superb
I have used Cheri's Prickly Pear Syrup before and it is a top-notch product. It makes a wonderful topping for pancakes and is a nice marinade for BBQ chicken. Adding some to lemonade gives a delightful flavor and the natural color makes a lovely deep pink drink. The quality is excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It has a subtle flavor, somewhere between kiwi and watermelon, and with the color and unique flavors it gives a cook some different to work with that anyone will enjoy.

Nice, Waterfall Edge
3 of 3 found this helpful The sad truth is, all pool equipment bites the dust due to chlorine and sun exposure. I know that I am lucky to get a season or two from a pool skimmer. I compared this new skimmer to another I recently bought, and here’s what I found.
- The plastic mesh screening was about the same weight/density and wrinkly (not drawn taut to the frames) for both, and the competitor’s cost considerably less than this one.
- This skimmer has plastic shaft, and we do have to sometimes bang the frame against a hard surface to get leaves, bugs, etc. to release from the screen. This no doubt weakens the shaft over time and it breaks. In fact, this is an exact replacement for one where the shaft broke (and it wasn’t that old). The competitor’s skimmer has an aluminum shaft, and to be honest the shaft is what usually breaks after repeated use.
- There is a thin or waterfall edge to this skimmer which does well for trying to lift items off the bottom of the pool. The competitor’s skimmer with the aluminum shaft but a rolled edge will be fine for surface skimming (which is where most of the debris is), but will not do well for trying to lift items off the bottom of the pool. Therefore, we are going to use each skimmer for specific purposes; the aluminum shaft for topside and this thin-edge for underwater.
Overall I would recommend this skimmer for the reasons above. If you are a pool owner, you can’t expect any kind of equipment to last more than a season or two unless you constantly rinse items with fresh (unchlorinated) water and store out of the sun. These things help extend the life and most of us don’t do that.
Opinions are honest and 100% my own. I test items bought at full price and at a discount, and am truthful in both situations (as I depend on the honest reviews of others in making my own purchasing decisions). If you find this review useful, please press the “yes” button.
