The short version: This phone was a worthwhile purchase.
I'm not thrilled with the dimension changes from the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to the Galaxy Note8; even though the screen doesn't seem to be much thinner from a dimensions standpoint it looks slimmer, and is noticeably longer. It makes for an odd viewing screen for watching videos.
Other than that I love the phone! I was having all kinds of battery problems with my Note 4, it would just shut off randomly when I tried to use any app that might draw too much battery power, then it would just power cycle endlessly until plugged in or battery disconnected. I haven't had any such problems with this phone, and the battery seems to last a long time, though I may just be disillusioned by my Note 4's poorly performing battery.
