JN012 LEISURE ARTS 1992, ARAN BABY AFGHANS TO CROCHET ~ 6 DESIGNS
    Jul 18, 2017
    The original is best...
This booklet was first published by Leisure Arts in 1992 and soon after, discontinued. It is still available as an e-book download from Leisure Arts for $12.95 (the original booklet was priced at $4.50). Obviously the hardcopy, if you can locate one, is a better value. Also, I find it difficult to follow patterns on my iPad and much prefer to be able to flip through the pages as needed. Since the stitch glossary and instructions are at the front of the booklet, being able to flip through the pages is very important. So, what I love about this particular booklet is that the afghans are worked across rather than up and down so you can see the patterns as they develop. It is also written so that you can take different elements (honeycombs, popcorns or cables) and mix and match them in your own original combination. Most Aran style afghans are knit in strips but with these patterns/instructions, you can crochet an Aran afghan in much less time and even experienced knitters cannot tell that it was not knit but crocheted. I borrowed this booklet from a friend and made the afghan in the photos in about 6 weeks but I had to return the booklet. I can't wait to start a new afghan now that I have my own copy.
