Because of California laws, I had to change to a variable speed pump after my single speed pump died. Although this one is a good price, it doesn't seem to have the same power as the old single speed pump so the vacuum doesn't work very well. Both were rated at 2.25HP so it "should" be the same, but my old pump showed 15PSI at the filter and this one only shows 13PSI so it's less powerful, even at full RPM. I like the fact that it works with my Intellitouch control panel so that's a plus.
