Great snow tire for the price
I had four of these on my 2000 Honda AWD CR-V for the last four winters and they're definitely a solid choice for the horrid Illinois roads. Ice traction appeared to be very well as I don't recall loosing control or sliding once whether it was at 30mph or 70mph. During a blizzard driving in and around 7+ inches of snow, nothing stood in my way when these tires were in motion. When there was an ice patch, it was as if the tire was correcting itself to keep driving forward. On dry and wet conditions, the ride was stable - again, I never lost control. I would loose maybe 1-2MPG at best in comparison to the General AltiMAX RT-43 set I have on the other 8 months out of the year, but that's to be expected with snow tires. They're slightly loud after 5000 miles, but again, it's to be expected. I've had these tires on driving in 70+ degree heat a few times and they didn't wear out hardly any. I just got rid of these tires recently and they still had plenty of tread left - just rotate and balance the tires routinely along with yearly 4-wheel alignments and they'll probably last awhile. So my conclusion - they're alright tires. Are they a good choice? Yes. Is there better quality snow tires out there? Also yes.
