Shelby Steele gets it right

Steele is honest and credible and makes an extremely compelling case for treating minorities as real people instead of as inferiors who need the help of whites who gain power by taking on the role of protector. He contrasts his life in a truly racist society to the freedom he enjoys today and he no longer sees himself as a victim. If you offer this book to someone who has closed their mind on this subject, they may refuse to read it and may do their best to disengage. Steele's book is that good.
