This is my first time using aquarium soil base medium. I am making 1 quart size Pico jar with planted grass and possibly a few shrimp once cycled. The media is smaller than your pellet gun BBs. Dark black or more of an obsidian black and looks great with lush green plants. A 2kg bag will fill a standard 5 gallon tank to approximately 1”.
